• Question: what causes tectonic plates to move?

      The earth is built up of several layers and the very centre of the earth is so hot that it is in fact liquid rock. Tectonic plates are solid layers close to the surface and rotation of the earth causes the liquid to flow allowing the solid layers on top of this to move around and collide with one another.
