I think every time I answer this question I have a different answer! I might go for Clyde Tombaugh, who discovered Pluto. I’ve always heard a story (I don’t know how true it is) that he was so well-liked in the astronomical community that they waited until after he’d died to reclassify Pluto as a planet (so it wouldn’t upset him). If it’s true, then he must have been a pretty nice guy, so I would like to meet him.

I would like to meet Darwin, I love the era and enjoy reading historical fictions about the age of sail. I also love culture and he had met lots of them first hand! I think many scientist would be cool to meet for science reasons but Darwin would be cool to have a pint with and chat about experiences generally, also it would be nice to show him just how far “his” theory on evolution has come.
