Question: If cats always land on their feet and butter always land butter side down. If the cat and the buttered toast have the same mass. What would happen?
It would make no difference. Mostly because cats have the ability to twist their bodies around during the fall to enable them to land on their feet. This is not always possible, especially when the fall is from insufficient height.
Interestingly, the reason that toast falls butter side down is that the drop is usually not high enough to allow the natural spin, caused by the way you were holding the toast when it fell, to turn the toast fully around.
