• Question: Do you ever have to go to different places for your job?

      Yep, travelling is a big part of research! I’m part of a group of people working on similar things who are spread all over Europe. At least once a year we meet up so we can talk about what we’ve been doing. Last Christmas I went to Munich (Germany) for one of these meetings, and this Christmas I’m going to Leiden, in the Netherlands.

    I live in the Netherlands, but I have been back to the UK about five times this year for work (my PhD is at Manchester University). I’ve also been to China, Japan, the USA, all over Europe and I am very much looking forward to going to a conference in Hawaii after Christmas. Even though I enjoy the travel, I really love coming home.
