Strictly speaking you could dump any waste into an active volcano, but this would be a disaster in the case of nuclear waste. Firstly, the radioactive decay of the waste would not be affected in any way whatsoever, which means that the waste would remain radioactive. The effect of the volcano would most likely be to pulverise the waste allowing it to be spewed into the ash cloud causing major fallout across the world. Since the waste would remain radioactive, it would result in a world-wide epidemic of radiation sickness.
